Two Tier Shelving - Newark, Nottinghamshire

Our client approached Concepts Group looking for a practical way to create a tiered small parts storage area that would align with the picking level of their existing carousel system. They needed to maximise the available space while creating an efficient picking process for their growing range of small parts.

The Challenge

Following discussions on available options, including a mezzanine floor and a two tier shelving system, the client opted for a two tier shelving solution. The system needed to provide accessible pick faces for small parts, while also allowing pallets to be loaded onto both tiers via pallet gates. The layout also needed to support a smooth workflow, with straightforward access from the warehouse floor to both levels and an efficient route for staff to enter, pick stock and return to the finishing area.

The Solution

Concepts Group provided a complete design and installation package for the two tier system. This included the shelving, staircase access to both levels, pallet gates, mesh fencing to all exposed edges, motion detector lighting, electrics and fire alarm provision to ensure the installation met the required standards.

The shelving was positioned to the rear of the system, keeping the access routes clear and creating an efficient flow through the picking area. The design also considered the client's future requirements, with the mesh fencing designed to allow sections to be removed and the overall system extended when additional storage capacity is required. This provides a flexible solution that can grow alongside the client's business.
