Shelving and Mezzanine Accessories - Nottingham

Concepts Group were tasked by an existing client to attend their site and provide design solutions to better utilise the existing first mezzanine floor area. The space was fitted with deep roller bed shelving used for the storage of glass lenses, which limited both storage efficiency and picking performance. The objective was to reconfigure the area to maximise capacity while improving the overall picking method and creating a more effective working environment for the client’s operational team.

The Challenge

The existing mezzanine layout presented several constraints. The deep roller bed shelving occupied a significant footprint, restricting the client’s ability to optimise storage density and workflow. In addition, all works needed to be completed within a tight deadline, while the facility remained fully operational. Maintaining uninterrupted picking and distribution activities throughout the project was critical, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption to the client’s day to day operations.

The Solution

Concepts Group delivered a comprehensive refurbishment and reconfiguration of the mezzanine area. The existing shelving was stripped out, and new vinyl non-slip flooring was installed to upgrade the working surface. New handrails and a pallet gate were fitted to enhance safety and accessibility. The storage solution was redesigned with narrower inclined lens box shelving, allowing the client to significantly reduce the floor space allocated to lens storage while increasing overall capacity.

The project was completed within the client’s required timeframe and with minimal operational disruption, leaving the client extremely satisfied with the transformation achieved while they remained fully operational.
