VNA Racking - Leicester

A manufacturer operating a busy production facility, sought to optimise their warehouse space by increasing storage capacity and reducing the overall footprint of their racking system. As part of a wider operational upgrade, Storage Concepts aided the transition to a Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) configuration supported by wire-guided trucks.

The Challenge

The main challenge was completing the project within a live production environment. All works had to be carefully phased to avoid disrupting the client’s operations. Coordinating with other contractors during the installation of the wire-guidance system added complexity, as floor channels needed to be cut and sealed in a tight schedule. Additionally, the client required a more space-efficient layout that increased storage capacity while ensuring safety—particularly near pedestrian and production areas.

The Solution

We worked in close coordination with the client and other contractors, phasing our works to stay on schedule and minimise disruption. The new VNA system allowed us to reduce aisle widths by removing column guards, further optimising the layout. Timber decks were installed on all beam levels for safer handling, and anti-collapse mesh was fitted to protect adjacent areas. We also supplied additional racking components as needed and completed on-the-spot repairs to ensure the entire system was safe, efficient, and fully operational.
