As part of a phased programme of works, Concepts Group were engaged to deliver a mezzanine floor installation within a warehouse environment to support heavy machinery. While the space itself was largely unrestricted, the project formed a critical element of the client’s operational expansion and required careful planning and coordination to ensure a safe and efficient outcome.
The Challenge
The mezzanine needed to be designed around concrete pits approximately one metre deep, which housed production machinery at ground level. These pits introduced both health and safety considerations during installation and a significant structural constraint within the design. In addition, the mezzanine was required to support and service the machinery below, making load capacity, access, and safe egress key considerations that demanded close collaboration between all parties.
The Solution
Concepts Group worked closely with the client and the specialist mezzanine designer to coordinate technical information and develop a fully fit-for-purpose solution. Detailed machinery sizes and loading requirements were incorporated into the design, alongside refinements to the steelwork and the inclusion of a secondary means of escape. Once approved, the project progressed smoothly through manufacture and installation, allowing the mezzanine to be delivered safely and enabling the client to continue operations without delay.
